 From Canada, to Greece!

I'm sitting in a cafe in Greece now, on the waterfront. I've been drinking this single coffee for an hour now while I use the free wifi. I'd order another, but I don't want to consume too much cafeine. Despite being here, away from it all, I'm watching PMQs from earlier today - playing very slowly over this connection, but playing none the less. On which note, if any one would like to leave idiot proof instructions for how to do something to my IP address so that I could use the iPlayer over here, I'd be so grateful. September is a lovely time for a holiday, but it is the month when everything - Parliament, Merlin, Glee, Mock the Week - starts up again.

Speaking of Merlin, I kinda fell out of fandom last year - it was one of the things I lost track of when I hit my downward spiral last year, and at the time I hardly minded, but now I miss it. So, when I can, should I go back and watch the eps I missed from last series, or should I just jump back in with this series and figure it out? I assume nothing major has happened (ie character death, big magic reveal, Arthur and Merlin having magical fireworks sex in front of everyone etc etc).

I hate my college. Right now, I want to go back this October more than I want to take a gap year, sure, but the difference between these options is dwindling in the face of how much I want to freaking know which it is. FFS, just tell me. God. It is now Sept the freaking 15th. If I'm going back this year, it'll be in a couple of bloody weeks. A bit of notice might be polite, no?

You can figure things out if you skip most of season two, but it might be a good idea to watch episode 8 and the last three episodes of the season.

Yay for holidays! I've just returned from Majorca and possibly the best week of my life with my best friends. And now it's raining and I'm unpacking holiday things and packing uni things and feel like I'm grieving because it was amazing. And I miss my friends incredibly now. :(

You should get back into Merlin because, well, yay Merlin! It is ridiculous but lovely and I didn't realise how much I loved it until I got home and remembered there was a Merlin episode to watch and just BEAMED. So...yeah. I think you should return to it! Um, a few major things happened (though sadly nothing on your list!) in the last few episodes, so you should maybe watch those to know absolutely what's happening because there's a lot more continuity between series 2 and series 3 than series 1 and series 2 in terms of characterisation etc etc.

Hope Greece is going awesomely! And re: John Barrowman, I am really rather tempted though am supposed to be doing freshers things then...ooh. Tough one. I take it this means you're having to miss it for some reason? *hugs*

Oh, that mourning feeling after a perfect holiday! Forgive me, but I am feeling slightly poetical and want to say something possibly overly pretentious comparing it to autumn finally coming after a long summer that seemed endless. Ahem. Yeah. OK, I'm definitely far too happy right now to commiserate properly, as I now find myself thinking about cherishing beautiful misery and such things. I can't help it. Anyway, suffice to say, I had a holiday with friends last summer that was just utter perfection and I Know exactly what kind of wistful you must be feeling. Even if I am feeling to poetical to express it like a normal person :P

OK, I shall endeavour to return to Merlin when I return to the UK! It suddenly hit me, when I saw people talking about series three, that I really wanted to watch it in a way I lost, about, hmm, last November I guess, as with so many other things... But I really loved Merlin, and Merlin fandom, and one of my "desperate times, comfort fanfics" is from Merlin and I was there right at the beginning and... just yeah. I remembered that I love it. So, I shall totally catch up, and then we can squee over it once again!

Oh my god, you should totally come and see John Barrowman with me! I don't have to miss it at all, and so if you came, you could see both John Barrowman and my wonderful self! I bought two tickets back in like, January or February or something, and the friend that the other one was originally for has now moved to LA, lucky cow, so this ticket is going wanting. Give it a home.

And regarding you and Oxford, did you find and like the magical stationery shop in the end?

Feeling poetic is always lovely, and you can never be overly pretentious when talking about beautiful and poetic things! And it's okay, I don't really need commiserating - it is sunny now (though still freezing cold if I go outside!) and I'm going back to Bristol this weekend so I'm very happy about that. :) I'm glad you're so happy! Happiness is always awesome!

:D Yay! I watched the first episode yesterday and was very excited and bouncy. I still retains the slightly terrible quality of really not-amazing scripts, but the banter and adorableness and pretty, pretty cast are all still standing strong and I love it. <3333 Catch up and we shall squee!

Ohhhh god I really really want to! How much is it? It's the last day of Fresher's week so theoretically I could do it...my society team wouldn't be very happy with me but I might be able to. Can I give it a potential home and when I know how much it is and exactly when it is and how I can get to and from Oxford and when I get to Bristol (which is on Sunday) I will find out if I can escape Fresher's week early and then HOPEFULLY shall give it a permanent home! And also see you, yay! (And damn your lucky cow friend living in LA. She doesn't deserve to go see John Barrowman anyway! :P)

Sadly I did not. :( My grannie went to France this summer and broke her leg and though she's mended she can't walk very far, and because we weren't entirely sure where it was we decided it was better for her to take me for lunch on the Ashmolean instead. (I'm sure you've been there and done that, but if not GO. It's so awesome, little rooftop restaurant and really not very expensive at all for a nice place!) But the Theology bookshop remains unbelievably amazing and you have to go and find it. Though as you have a Theology library all of your own in Cambridge you probably won't find it as exciting as me. :P

I feel all poetic because I just finished a book I really really enjoyed, and now I am sipping delicious coffee and am just full of this utterly wonderfully happy, content, complete feeling, like the world is perfect and I am perfect and unbeatable and I'm listening to power ballads and yeah, I feel like I could do anything right now. Which is a very lovely feeling indeed, and tends to be how I feel after finishing a really good book actually (lucky me?) and apparently this lends itself to me feeling poetical, since I feel kinda like I could float away or burst into tears or give off sparks or make a flower bud bloom or something, and in my head poetry is the souped up magical version of communication I suppose. It'll past, but hopefully not for a while :D

Haha, I am slightly pleased it is cold in England. Since you guys have TV to comfort you and all. And the Pope! Lucky England! Hahahaha. LOL, England. It's warm here, but not sweltering like I'm used to in July and August - somehow I have managed to arrange it so that Canada was hotter than Greece. There is a pleasant breeze going through my hair right this second. I'm in heaven.

Merlin's scripts were never it's strong point, true, though I seem to remember thinking the eps in the second series that I saw being a bit better written than the first IMO. As long as there is still pretty people and magic and a bit of banter I expect I'll be happy enough.

Oh gosh, your poor grannie, I really do hope she's alright. Can you believe I actually haven't been into the Ashmoeleon since all the new stuff got done? I'm outside there a lot - I walk past it to get to my favourite cocktail place, um, often, and if people are picking up or dropping off in cars we inevitably stop just outside it. But I haven't actually bothered to go in for absolutely ages, I really must when I get back. It's terrible how I take Oxford for granted.

Come and see John Barrowman with me. It's at 7.30 on a Friday night, Bristol really isn't that far away. You could get a train, it's less than two hours apparently, and write while on it! It would be awesome. You could have the ticket for £25? It's Row D, you'd be practically sitting in his lap. If you could get the afternoon off I would show you the magical stationery shop. Which, I think you'll agree, would be most excellent. Come along (Pond)!
