New Year's Resolutions
Dec. 31st, 2008 10:53 pmThis year, the theme is getting on with my life already.
In 2009, I resolve to:
1. Make the right decision about university for me, not for anyone or anything else
2. Get a job
3. Not spend money so casually on impulse shopping
4. Finish the first draft of Imlie's Garden and allow someone to read it
5. Travel to a part of the world I have never been to before.

Date: 2009-01-01 12:42 am (UTC)...the plan being, if I spend less money impulsively, then I will be able to afford things I really want and need...

Not (2). I don't want a job. Been there, got fired, never gonna do that again.
Also, not (3). Rather than impulse shopping, the challenge for moi is to not spend money on impulse ticket purchasing. For I have no money left for shopping. Seriously, I have not bought any clothes in the last six months 'cos of insane amounts of ticket purchasing. Pretty soon, I will just have to go everywhere naked.
Also, not (4). I don't feel any particular urge to finish the first draft of Imelie's Garden, as I do not know what it is. Is it a novel you're writing?
Thus, hence, in conclusion, NONE of our New Year's resolutions are the same, except (1) and (5).
Have a lovely New Year.

Date: 2009-01-02 02:07 pm (UTC)You got fired?! This is a story I am yet to hear. Tell me moar.
I particularly figure that if I stop buying clothes every time I'm a bit low/miserable/bored/late with homework, aka, all the freaking time, then I will better be able to afford to go off on all these jolly trips with you/ to the pub.
And yes, Imlie's Garden is the tentative working title for the novel I am currently writing, kinda. It's complicated. And unfortunately, I also often lack of any particular urge to finish the first draft of it.
I would like to point out that really, your version of (1) will also be kinda totally different to mine this year. But! Travelling = good. Though somehow i expect you will do much more than me...
Happy New Year!
