That was so not what I was expecting.
I liked the different format, it was refreshing and interesting, and gave purpose to the narration that brought the episode to life [er, no pun intended...]. I LOVED the snappy beginning- so succinct and unexpected, and the way it grew and changed, so it was hard to predict what was going on, what was happening. The pulse was a lovely idea too- I wish I had one of those to cheer me up when I'm feeling a bit down...
Other character wise-- Jack had a cool line something like "Boys in tight jeans jumping into the water? I was taking pictures" but there wasn't much from Ianto alas or really anything slashy. Except a tin bit where Ianto kinda said Jack and he weren't in a proper relationship, which the aren't, but the really should be. I don't mind this though, because that awesome GDL interview rocks so that is plenty to be going on with really. There were some nice scenes with Martha and Tosh with Owen and how his opinion kept changing toward them and himself and everything-- I loved how Tosh behaved, and when that old gu complimented her legs! Martha got a smooch with Jack before she left, which was sweet and loving, not particularly sexual, and then she just went without much fanfare- I'm definitely gonna miss her.
Especially when next weeks episode is all about Gwen, and might contain some Gwack, or at least Gwen/fake!Jack, but since it is meant to be her wedding I'm not sure whether I want her to end up with Rhys. I mean, obviously Gwen/Rhys is much better than Gwen/Jack, but I'm not sure I want her to end up marrying sweet, loyal and loving Rhys when she's such a skanky cheat. She could at least admit that having cheated on him once in the past and being in love/lust with Jack is not a great time to marry a third guy, and she really doesn't deserve anyone as nice as Rhys, let alone anyone as awesome as Jack... On the other hand, Rhys genuinely loves Gwen, and he deserves to be happy, so if marriage to Gwen is what he wants then maybe he should get it. Maybe Jack should just go of with Rhys and get rid of Gwen altogether. Hmmmm....
