Nonsensical ramblings.

So straight away, my dad sees the gherkin and goes "I don't think that was built in the 80s." Honestly.

Then Molly accuses Sam of being lame. Dunno whether this is cute or whether she needs a slapping. I'm not sure how old she is supposed to be though, and soon she is in the middle of being held hostage, so I think she will be forgiven. I don't really care for Molly reall, but I think that Alex's hysteria was quite good, and the shrieking sounded ok. But I don't think either of them would get over the trauma as fast as they appear to though.

And then, thank god, he shoots her. Doesn't hang around talking or gloating or getting distracted. He just goes right ahead and shoots her. And it starts.

I like her weird hair and makeup, and her tights and shoes, but hate the dress, the jewelry, the coat.

And then finally, finally, the Gene Genie makes an appearance. I love that she doesn't recognise him- she thinks she knows all about Sam Tyler and Life on Mars but she has no idea really.

I like how the 80s are much more grey and distorted and pessimistic compared to the brown honesty of the seventies, and how the police are no longer respected or at least feared, but now the are despised and ridiculed and ignored.

I love Chris- how he keeps saying "Roger that", his relationship withh Shaz, and how he isn't nervous, he's cautious. His character, as well as Gene's, has really matured in the last seven years, and I'm sure Sam's influence had something to do with it.

The stuff about Sam... hmm, complicated. Which is good plenty of room for fic, and slash fic at that. They didn't find his body.

"Let me do this on my own." "Its more fun with two."

And the interactions with Gene are so interesting, and how the men don't know whether to stay away from the weird one or to come on to her, except Gene who seems pretty happy to dismiss the crazy, existential bit of her and just blatantly come on to her. Which is quite hilariious. But sometimes its hard to tell whether Gene is being romantic, or just a combination of chivalrous and vulgar. Maybe he doesn't know either.

Gene on the boat with the machine gun though, freaking awesome, bloody cool.

"Psychiatry." "It's PSYCHOLOGY!" "...Same thing."

Well, whatever is going on, its gonna be good. Ra's right-- wherever the Guv is, that's where its good to be.
