1 Successful Day

"When writing a novel, that's pretty much entirely what life turns into: 'House burned down. Car stolen. Cat exploded. Did 1500 easy words, so all in all it was a pretty good day."
— Neil Gaiman

Neil Gaiman speaks the truth.

I had a lot of things to get done today. I did maybe three or four of them - the washing up, for the record, was not one of the lucky chosen few. But one of them was starting NaNoWriMo. I haven't written a lot, and lord knows the words I have written aren't great, but I have begun, and even if the whole rest of the month is downhill from here, today just seems like such a good day. The sun was shining and the world was a pleasant place to be and I've been happy all day. Today was a good day.

See world? Not a complete failure.

:D

Thanks for posting this. I'd had a long day and I was utterly exhausted and, considering I hadn't officially signed up for NaNo, was debating whether or not it was worth the sleep deprivation.

After reading this, I cracked open a Word document, and am currently on 700 words. I'm struggling to stay awake and the passage isn't particularly decent, but it's SOMETHING.

So just...thanks for keeping me motivated with this. =]

Aw, I'm glad I motivated you. We can do this! And something, anything, is always better than nothing. I'm actually finding the focus on quantity of words rather than quality of words really pretty liberating. I'm not going to rewrite or edit anything at all I think this month - just pure writing.

Final word count at midnight last night was 1720. Struggling again tonight, but that's half the fun...right? =]
